PARRICIDE is one of those bands which were around when the Polish death metal scene was solidifying. For a number of reasons, they never hit it big in these old days, but since persistence is all, after 11 years, they are finally ready to make the first step into the open in the shape of their latest material titled
"Ill-treat." This is the future, but before . . .
The band formed in spring 1990 with the line-up comprising Mariusz Staniuk (bass/vocals), Albert Kraczkowski (guitars), Piotr Sabarański (guitars) and Artur Raszka (drums). However, due to logistic problems, it wasn't until 1992 that PARRICIDE released their first
"Rehearsal Tape'92." July 1993 saw another tape, this time recorded in the professional Warrior Studio. Unfortunately, the problems of the company which was to release it, Morbid Noizz, delayed it for over two years! Before it saw the light of day, a year later, PARRICIDE recorded the material titled "Fascination of Indifference" and released it in January 1995 through Baron Records. Then, September 1995 marked the release of the long-delayed "Unnailed" on Morbid Noizz. Both materials appeared in the cassette format only.
Regardless of these problems, the mere two months later in November 1995 the band recorded
"Accustomed to Illusion" which was also released as a Morbid Noizz cassette. The breaking point came two years later when PARRICIDE recorded their new full-time material titled "Crude." Recorded in the Selani Studio, the album again took two years to be released, this time through the Japanese Jackhammer Music which unveiled it in June 1999. In a number of respects, this was the turning point in the band's career. "Crude" received good reviews world-wide and also led to several live appearances.
PARRICIDE's latest material titled "Ill-treat" was recorded in the Hertz Studio in early October 2000. What it brings is the top quality crushing death metal. The long-time experience, superior musicianship and writing skills have all contributed to the material which promises to carry the band into the future. In Poland,
"Ill-treat" was released in August 2001 on a small and independent label Surgical Diathesis Records. The album garnered very favourable reviews in the underground press, catching the eye of Empire Records, which subsequently decided to buy the option for the album for the world-wide release, exclusive of Poland. Empire Records' edition has been remastered and repackaged with a highly controversial cover art. The album comprises 13 pieces of uncompromising metal, including CANNIBAL CORPSE's cover "Hammer Smashed Face." In Europe, the album was released on 25 November through Plastic Head and in the early 2002 it should become available in the US and Canada through Crash Music. Also, the negotiations are under way concerning the Japanese and Asian releases. If you still think that CANNIBAL CORPSE and DISGORGE are all there is to be said about brutality, you are wrong. Check out PARRICIDE and their latest slab! You'll know better then.
